Upon the frozen northern frontier stand the Iron Kingdoms of Vargarde, where towering fortresses watch over windswept valleys. The return of the lost Kharadum Codex has deeply unsettled the High Council. They do not seek it to rule the world, but because they cannot allow another civilization to wield a power capable of destroying everything countless generations have sacrificed to build.
